So I designed a calendar :) I was doing the designs with the verses on them and my mom told me that they would make a great calendar, so I made one! I ordered two of them, one for me and one for my mom, and they should come in the mail in about a week. Take a look at the designs I used for it. All the designs have photos that were taken by myself, and the graphic design work was done by me too :)

What do you think? I really like it. The style is very me. I should look into mass-producing these babies.

Been a while, lots going on in my life at the moment, I had to take a break from photography and my website. I did do a few graphic designy things while I was taking a break. I did these for my home, I would like to get them printed and hang them up. I really liked making these and hope to make more.

Of course the ones I print wont have my watermark thing one them :)

Christmas Card Designs

I designed a few Christmas cards about a week ago that I was planning on posting today. But then this morning I designed even better ones! I would love to know what people think of them.

A few things to keep in mind:

Of course, if I made them for other people in the future, they would have the pictures that I take of their family on them. Also the colors and words on the card can be customized :) There is also the option of putting more than one photo on the front.

These are just the beginning. They are all pretty similar, so I am gonna try a different approach with the next set.

Pumpkin Patch

I haven't posted in a while, I have been pretty busy. This past week I was working on designing a pamphlet for my future business (it's not finished!) and I designed a serious of photo Christmas cards that will be used for my business (I will be sending out one of them for my family this year!) I really love the way that the Christmas cards turned out and I might post them on here at a later date!

We also got a few new household items like a new kitchen table set and an entertainment center (which has glass on it and Sam would just love to break it.) So we were doing a lot of moving in and moving out and a lot of "Sam! No!"ing.

Among all the homework, business work, and housework that has been going on my mother took me and my boy to the pumpkin patch and I was able to get a few photos there. I think it will be easier to get photos on outings in the future when Sam is older, cause right now he wants to run everywhere!

I hope you all like them!

This pumpkin was an icky color...so I made it black and white!

Sam loved this pumpkin because he could actually pick it up :)

I managed to snap this awesome photo! Love his eyes in it.

Rule of Thirds

I wasn't too excited about them. I will probably need to go out and shoot more before I can be happy with one shot to turn in. Maybe Liz can model for me :D

It's been a while since my last post and I do apologize for that. There has been a lot going on in my personal life and I needed to climb out of a little hole I was in for a few days. I'm good now though, so don't worry about me! Life is good. I will try to post as much as I was posting before :)

So yeah. I have been doing loads of Design homework (for those of you that don't know I am a Graphic Design major ::shock!:: even though I plan on working as a photographer) so sadly today I am only posting one photo. Please, don't let this dissappoint you too much, there is plenty more to follow as long at you come back tomorrow. And the next day. And the next. DO IT OR ELSE. :O

Reflection Homework

Digital Photography

I had my first digital photography class this past week and got my first assignment. Very simple first topic, Reflection. Too bad I can't use an old photo lol. Anyway, I took some photos last night but it was dark and the lighting wasn't the best so I only have one photo that I kinda like. I am gonna need to go shoot some photos today or tomorrow in an interesting location, probably Honeoye Falls.

Here is the photo I liked...

I love markers :) I bought these for a different class and really wanted to take some pictures of them. I am gonna have to take some more in the day light because I do better in daylight...

Anyway, I will post more photos that I take for this assignment when I take them, look forward to it!!!!!!

I have been playing around with a new set up for my photos...

If you haven't noticed, I changed the signature at the bottom of my posts recently. I really like the way it looks and I thought I might want to incorporate it into my photos somehow and possibly have it become my business identity. It is gonna be so hard for me to stick with a design, with my graphic design background. I am always seeing ways to change things. Someday I am gonna need to stick with something. Anywho, here is my first idea for a possible photo set up.

Of course, if I make this my new look I will have to change my post signature, I don't want to be repetative!

I would love everyones thoughts on this, the good and the bad. Hit me with your best shot, I can take it :)

Oh my. I think I'm getting better. Shhhhh. Don't let me know. I might believe you. That might not end well. Just kidding, you can tell me...PLEASE TELL ME! So like I was saying last night, I been doin me homework, reading tutorials and such. So today I took a photo, a pretty recent photo that I took just last month and editted just last month, and tried to edit it with my new knowledge and compair it to my month old knowledge. Have I lost you yet?

Ok. So I am freaking out doing this because it is kinda embarrassing how bad my photos were a year ago. But I am gonna do the I ♥ Faces week challenge, which is a post showing my progress in photography.

Nowadays...

I know I have got a lot of learning to do. I have only been serious about photography since January of this year. I think collage is a funny word... I always think I have it spelled wrong. Oh well, whatever. So yeah collage, I made another collage today, getting crazy with the collages now. Collage. This one features my very cute and adorable boy, Sam the Man.

I plan on printing this and mounting it somehow for my mother for christmas. I know she will love it :) He is so adorable!

I was just playing in photoshop, making some photo collages...or something like that. I'm hoping to maybe make an esty shop soon and sell prints of photos... Maybe write quotes on them. Fall Leaves??!

So, today I walked around my yard (which isn't a very long walk) and snapped a few pictures. I found some beautiful Fall leaves, but hang on... didn't it just start getting Summery out?? Not complaining though, Fall is my favorite season. I am looking forward to taking lots of photos this Fall, especially because I am taking digital photography this semester. Yes, that's right people, I haven't taking a digital photography class at college yet. And yet my photos rock right :D? Ok, well I think they rock...maybe. A little.

So here are a few pics. Not too many tonight.

Aren't they pretty? I love taking pictures right after it rains. Water makes everything better :D Except when it doesn't :D Well, I need to hit the novel for a while. I am trying to fill the void in my life because I finished the Twilight saga. Nothing quite compairs....

I am super excited! I have been sick for 6 days and today I finally got medicine for it! It took 3 days for my doctor to tell me that I have a rare form of strep, a rare form thats got it in for me for sure. It was the worst sore throat I have ever had, which is saying something because I had my tonsils out when I was younger to stop the contantly visiting streptococcal bacteria (I can use big words :D).

Well that's enough about me, lets get to the real reason why we are here. I have a random assortment of different photos for you. They are randomly assorted differently. Okay. I am a little crazy right now, perhaps because I have been hanging out with Gregory House too much this week.

Today I took photos of Teresa, my brother's girlfriend. She is living with us at the moment. She was off work today so I asked if she would let me take her picture. She was a little shy with the camera at first, but then she got the hang of it :)

More Liz!

I finished editing a few more photos of Liz from yesterday. They are all pretty similar, but I plan on taking more of her and they will be different. I am hoping that next time the ground will be dry so I can get some sitting shots. Maybe some laying down ones too :) God I can't wait until I get a better camera.

Now all I need to do is get Bill to let me take his picture too so I can get some couples shots.

I'm really excited because on Wednesday I am going out to lunch with my good friend Leslie, who I haven't seen since my wedding! She was my maid of honor and we need to catch up, like really bad. Also, she said I could photograph her and I know that it will be awesome! I hope Adam and Sam have a fun father/son day together while I am gone. Sam doesn't go without me too often and he very much is a mommy's boy. Hope he doesn't cry too much. It's good for him though, he needs to be able to be with other people. I may post tomorrow, but I might not, I needs to clean me house.

Bill and Liz came over today, like they usually do on Sunday. I was hoping to take some pictures of Liz today but it wasn't looking promising. The weather has been terrible, causing my power to turn off contantly. Buuuut... it stopped raining for like 30min and we quickly got some pictures! I definately want to photograph her again on a day when the ground isn't a swamp (some of the angles I did today got me mud covered!)

I took some pictures today while I was hanging out with Sammy. We walked around the yard and looked at everything. Sam tried to eat everything and run in the road at any chance he could get. I was showing him the yellow flowers growing in my garden and he managed to get some petals from it. It must have tasted good cause he went for seconds :)

Bill really wanted me to change my watermark so I did. He said it needed to be in the middle more, so there. Sigh.

I am hoping to get some good pictures tomorrow, if the weather is good. Liz said I could photograph her. I love her hair color, I can't wait!

So I wanted to shared some of my favorite butterfly photos. I know, again with the macros, when will she stop? Never♥

That big yellow butterfly is probably my favortie. I love the detail of it, and the way you can see it's tongue all wound up. Cool stuff.

Some Nature

I have a lot of nature photos. I don't know why, but nature is so willing to let me take it's picture. Why aren't more people like that? So, yeah. Have I ever said that I ♥ Macros?

Yeah. See that nasty little bug? Those things are infesting my garden. They are eating everything! I am a terrible gardener as it is, I don't think I need them messing things up even more.

Don't those leaves rock? They are so pretty they don't even look real. I took those in St. Louis at Botanical Gardens. It was sooooo hot, but so worth it. The prickly plants... hmmm I don't know where I took those. Could have been anywhere around my home. Those things grow like crazy here.

Ah the shrooms. I love those pictures. Especially the upside-down one. I ♥ the detail. You can almost feel it. Lol. I might make another post today... since its only 12:30am... I have time.

Gooooooodmorning people. Jeeze man it's so nice to be able to sleep in again :D My son Sammy has become a little bit of a night hawk and as result he has been sleeping in until 10 and sometimes 11! I thought I would never sleep in ever again.

Anyway, I thought on this fine cloud covered rainy morning I would post some of my favorite flower pictures.

Ahhhhh, rain. I love taking pictures in the rain, water is so much fun to work with. I took all three of these when I was just starting to get really into macros. I ♥ them.

Speaking of ♥ing check out these next three.

These are my non-macro favs. They were taken at Botanical Gardens in Illinois. We were visiting my husbands family there and of course I brought my camera. The thing that I forgot was my dock to recharge the battery! So my camera died the first day and there was nothing to be done about it. Lucky for me, my Husband's dad had a camera, which was actually better than mine, and let me use it the rest of the trip! Good times... I need a new camera...

Kira's Visit

Today my friend Kira was in the neighborhood and so she came over for a visit. She let me take pictures of her yet again :) It was a nice opportunity to test out my camera because it did break...but then I slammed it against the desk and it worked mostly. So I needed to test it to see if everything was working correctly. It did the job alright but I could definately see a big difference in the original images.

Aaaaanyway.

Here she is :) I liked the angle of this shot.

She has such beautiful hair...

I tried a lot of different angles out. It was fun.

She really does have a gothic/renaissance look, as I have mentioned in previous posts... plus she lets me get right in her face which is nice.

She's like Snow White...light skin, dark hair. It's a challenge to get the right contrast.

I love these next two...

I have been doing a lot of sepia tone photographs lately. I'm really diggin it. I think these pictures have a dream-like feel to them. I love taking pictures of her hands. She thinks they aren't good hands but... I have giant hands... So yeah.

Grandma's Party

Yesterday was my grandma's birthday party at my aunts house. So I decided to get some practice photographing people.

Meet Erin.

Isn't she adorable? This is my cousins daughter :) I just met her for the first time. This picture is a tad fuzzy :( She made that face and I had to snap the picture really quick before she stopped. Still cute though...

She has amazing eyes! They are such a pretty hazel!

This is my brother Josh holding my son Sammy. Josh needs a shave and he makes some pretty interesting faces.

But not quite so interesting as...

Gramps. He insists on making odd faces for every picture lol.

I did a little practice with taking pictures of couples, but not much. These were just quickly snapped. I need to get a full shoot planned out dedicated to just photographing a couple.

Today I am gonna talk about my favorite photos of Kira. Kira is a friend of mine that models for me. I love taking her photo, I think she is very photogenic. She has this great renaissance/gothic look. I am hoping to photograph her again really soon.

Ok.

Here are her hands.

Kira let me take her pictures for my class this past Spring and this was my (and my teacher's) favorite photo from that shoot. It was also the last photo I took. I realized that I wanted to take more pictures of her hands right when I ran out of film. Oh yeah, this is on of the few photos I have that I took with a non-digital SLR camera. I developed it at my college. This photo made me perk up in that class, because it was one of the first ones I really loved. Anyway, don't you love her wedding ring? I think it was made specially for her :)

This photo, I think really shows Kira's gothic/renaissance look. I lowered the saturation on it to help create a "dream-like" effect. At least thats what I call it lol. I will post the original too, so you can compair. I personally like them both. It really depends what you want to feel when you see it though. Lol.

I might like the original better lol. They really are two completely different pictures, of the same picture. They create completely different feelings. Hmm. Well it's up to you now.

Waterfalls

Today I thought I would talk about some of my favorite waterfall photos. I'm not gonna post all of my waterfalls, because I have a ton. But everyone will be able to see all my photos soon enough. I am working on getting the slideshows back up. I had to take them down because I am in the process of changing all of my watermarks to the one seen here. Also, I'm am doing a little organization.

Aaaaanyway.

This is a photo I took of Papermill Falls. It's in my hometown of Avon, Ny. I think that they are really beautiful even though they are completely vandalized. I tried to take this from an angle where you couldn't see all the graffiti. Don't get me wrong, I love photographing graffiti. But I didn't want there to be anything to distract the viewers from the beautiful falls. I will have to post some pictures of the graffiti in a later post.

This is a little waterfall in Rush, NY. I am not sure if it has a name. There wasn't much water on the day I took this, and there was a guy standing in the water in front of it fishing. But I kind of liked the way this one has the silhouette of the trees framing it.

This is the waterfall on my inlaws property. They live in Illinios. I was kind of sad when I went down to photograph them, because the day before they were roaring from all the rain. On this day the water was a lot lower and there was a lot less falls to work with. But I like the side view of it. I actually stood underneath it and got an all natural shower. That was fun. Then I saw a snake and got the heck out of there...

These last three photos are all of Honeoye Falls (Honeoye Falls, NY.) I have lived only a few miles away from these falls my whole life and I never knew how awesome they are. They make for some really great photos. I really love the bright red mill (I think it's a mill?) behind them. I would love to take some pictures of people down there some time.

A Whole New Look

Hello World! I just finished re-designing my blog and I am super excited about it! I feel like I have moved up the blogger ladder and am seeing a much better view. It took a long time to get here and it was a sticky experience. Trying to teach myself HTML language was interesting, I definately was just making things up at times. Lots of issues, from the pictures being too big for the blog size, to the trying to get the whole page not to explode into pieces every time a person minimized it. But here I am, and all the pieces seem to be in order :)

I having been thinking about how I want to start. I don't want my blog to be just pictures with no little chats. That wouldn't be fun. But it is a photography blog and so it definately needs some photography. So I am thinking I will upload the new pictures that I do and chat about them a bit. If there are some dry seasons in my life where I am not able to get photos, I will talk about some old ones. I think that will work out :)

So, lets begin. I took a bunch of photos yesterday!

Check out this guy. I like to think that he is saying "How you doin'." You might be thinking, "Why did you take a picture of an art figure?" Well, it happened the way it usually does. It was one of the Facebook Photography groups that I am way too into lol. The theme for the week was models or some such. So I busted out the old art model and took a bunch of photos.

It actually turned out to be a great shoot, because I scored this little peice of eye candy. I just fell in love with these pictures. I felt like they had personalities. They don't even have faces, but the photos say so much to me! Maybe it's just me lol. The creator in love with the created. Well, I hope others find these guys just as awesome as I do, because this handsome guy now takes front row in my blog header.

Here is the last photo I want to show you from this particular shoot. It's my handsome model "looking" up. I guess these pictures are a little strange but I just love them so much :D
